Older homes need different detailing
On a 1920s or 30s house, the roof is rarely just a roof. Steeper pitches, dormers, exposed rafter tails, tight side-yard access and original wood shake beneath later layers all change the job. We frequently find that a house has been re-covered over the original shake, which means a full tear-off to deck and new sheathing rather than a straightforward layover.
